915 Transaxle

NOTE: All adapter kits listed below are designed to mate an LS series Chevy V-8 motor to the Porsche transaxle. Many other adapter kits are available, but cost may differ according to your motor and transaxle choice, clutch requirements, and application.

The second option is the 5 speed 915 transaxle (from the mid 70's to the mid 80's 911 model car), which has been used successfully to up to 400hp. Originally configured for a rear engine application, this tranny can be modified by Renegade for mid-engine use if required. Stock, the 915 has a rather short final drive (5th gear), which are not particularly ideal for most V-8's with small diameter tires. However, we have developed, and can install, a taller fifth gear for this tranny to compliment a 300-400hp V-8 power curve. With the more recent trend toward taller diameter rims and tires, this transaxle (with our taller 5th gear), is close to ideal for lightweight, higher HP applications on a budget. At 6500 RPM, with 25-inch diameter tires, expect speeds over 180MPH.
