914 (901 type) Transaxle
NOTE: All adapter kits listed below are designed to mate an LS series Chevy V-8 motor to the Porsche transaxle. Many other adapter kits are available, but cost may differ according to your motor and transaxle choice, clutch requirements, and application.
The Porsche 914 transaxle works well for mid engine conversion purposes. The 914 tranny is good up to 300hp and 300ft-lbs in a light street car, although it cannot handle a great deal of abuse. The stock gear ratios are acceptable for use with mild V-8 engines, but they are much better when rebuilt with our taller gear set. First gear is best unused because it is not designed for a significant amount of torque, and it's quite short for the V-8. When we rebuild the 914 transaxle and add the taller gears, we actually gate off first to deny access, unless otherwise instructed.
NOTE: Prices below include our cores. If the customer supplies cores, cost may be less.
914: Rebuilt transaxle with 1st gear eliminated and taller gears installed: $2,700
Option: Adapter plate and hardware for SBC, 9 inch flywheel and bolts, Kevlar high performance clutch disc, stage two pressure plate, throw out bearing, and pilot bearing: $1,189
